Impeller Design and Performance Analysis of Aviation Fuel Pump Based on the Inverse Method

Centrifugal pumps have a wide range of applications in the aviation field. The present work focuses on optimal design fuel pump impellers by means an inverse method. impeller is designed here solving problem, which geometry found imposing target blade loading. As procedure inviscid, iterative process based RANS then applied to finally converge fully viscous solution. Three representative loading distributions been investigated, and final performances are evaluated computations. Since flow variables, rather than geometry, imposed field, it that way method high efficiency under conditions without cavitation; among them, with higher at hub maintains for also has better anti-cavitation low inlet pressure conditions. Moreover, cavitation resistance can be improved adjusting distribution near leading edge using tool.
